The Montreal Habitants got a superb performance from pitcher Rich Barron, but the Chicago Hawks still won the game, 7-6. Barron threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. The win moves Chicago to a record of 7-4.

Andy Bires drove in one run for Chicago. With one out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Bires had a clutch at-bat. Facing Montreal hurler Al Johns, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hawks a 7-6 lead.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Chicago manager Mike Flaherty.
