The Cincinnati Packers defeated the New York Knickerbockers, 5-2, in National Baseball League action at Knickerbocker Stadium. Cincinnati pitcher Jackie Richardson had a standout performance. Brian Alfieri, who finished 2nd in the ABL in saves with 24 in 1966, earned the save for Cincinnati. The 4th-place Packers have won 4 in a row.

Cincinnati used a timely hit from Leon Hughes to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Packers ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"I thought we played a nice game," Hughes told the Cincinnati Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
