Captains Pick Up 4-2 Win Against Kansas City
|
San Diego got a strong outing from Jack DeWitt as the Captains defeated the Kansas City Bulls, 4-2, at San Diego Sporting Complex. DeWitt got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 6 hits and walked 2 over 7.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Mark Pike collected his 1st save.
Bob Kidder had a big 2-run double for the Captains in the bottom of the first inning. With San Diego leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from fan favorite Dennis Greenlee and swatted a double to right. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Captains ahead, 3-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said San Diego manager Joe Mack.
The Bulls, 6-6, continue their so-so start to the 1976 season.
