Habitants Knock Off Empires, 5-2
|
Starting pitcher Al Johns was a major factor in the 5-2 Montreal Habitants triumph over the New York Empires. The winner was Steve Locke in relief. His record improves to 4-4. Nate Frampton took the loss. Sam Corman got the save, his 8th in 8 chances.
With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Frank Warnock had a game-changing hit. The Habitants right fielder slammed a 2-run single off Bryant Stark, making the score 3-2, Montreal.
"It was a solid team effort," said Warnock after the game.
