Wells Shines in 9-2 New York Win
Riding the 3-hit performance of the fan favorite Steve Wells, the New York Knickerbockers stopped the Washington Eagles, 9-2, in 9 innings. New York pitcher Jack Forbes got the win. He's now 9-11. Dave Alexander was tagged with the loss. New York raised its record to 58-58 with the win.

Early in the game, Wells had a 2-run home run for New York. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Knickerbockers on top, 2-0.

"It never gets old," said Wells. "Winning, that is."
