Habitants Lose, 6-1, at Puget Field
|
Seattle starter Dave Gilson kept the Montreal offense from doing much damage. The right-hander leaned on his fastball in leading the Emeralds to a 6-1 win. Seattle is now 65-51, Montreal 56-63.
Phil Soroka had a big bases-clearing double for the Emeralds in the bottom of the third inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from 29-year old left-handed pitcher Lawrence Connor and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Emeralds ahead, 4-0.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Gilson told the Seattle Chronicle.
