Boston Defeated By Empires, 4-1
|
The New York Empires converted a terrific effort from starter Larry Stanford into a win over the Boston Terriers at Queens Field. The Empires won the game by a final score of 4-1. In 6.1 innings, Stanford surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The victory gives New York a record of 68-52.
New York took a 4-1 lead on Al Castro's 5th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Castro hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Boston pitcher Tim Jepperson visibly frustrated.
"It was a good effort all around," said Stanford.
