Atlanta Earn 5-3 Victory at Dominion Field
|
The Atlanta Generals picked up a win at Dominion Field, downing the Toronto Hurons, 5-3. On the mound for Atlanta was right-hander Frank Combs, who played a pivotal role in the win. Combs got the win, improving to 11-6. He gave up 8 hits and walked 2 over 8 innings. He allowed 3 runs. Frank Noorani notched his 21st save in 27 chances.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Roberto Palacios to capture the win. The second baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the third inning to put the Generals ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"I thought Frank threw the ball well across the board," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
With the win, Atlanta upped its record to 62-55.
