Empires Lose Again, 5-3, to Wolverines

The Detroit Wolverines locked up a win at Wolverine Field, knocking off the New York Empires, 5-3. On the mound for Detroit was right-hander Monte Willis. He played a major role in the triumph. Willis got the win, improving to 5-1. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The current losing streak for New York has reached 6 games.
In the bottom of the fifth, Detroit second baseman Bill Taylor had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and one out, Taylor stroked a run-scoring single to left. It made the score 1-0, Detroit. For the game, he went 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles.
