Empires Throttled by Generals, 2-1
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Atlanta Generals eventually prevailed.
In a low-scoring affair between the Atlanta Generals and the New York Empires, pitcher Steve Gregg was the difference between victory and defeat. The Atlanta right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Generals win. Gregg picked up the win for Atlanta, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 5-5.
Rich Page, who is tied for 10th in the ABL in stolen bases with 18, came through for Atlanta with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. The left fielder was a perfect 3 for 3 in the game, including 1 home run and 2 singles. He scored 1 run and collected 2 RBI.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Page said.
The 5th-place Empires have lost 4 consecutive games.
