Dairymen Bridle Blockbusters, 3-2
|
Milwaukee and Los Angeles played a hard-fought contest.
The Milwaukee Dairymen had to overcome a good performance from Los Angeles pitcher Dario Fontanez to claim a 3-2 win at Blockbuster Stadium. Fontanez went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Dan Valenti earned the save, his 7th in 10 tries.
Cliff Bragg, who finished 5th in the NBL in doubles with 31 in 1967, had a direct impact on the outcome. Bragg contributed a 2-run single in the top of the fifth inning to put Milwaukee up, 3-1.
Los Angeles manager John Trausch said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Milwaukee, at 54-65, holds down 5th place in the National Baseball League Western Division.
