Chicago Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
The Chicago Traders defeated the San Diego Captains, 4-3, in National Baseball League action at Union Field. Chicago pitcher Skip Crawford had a standout performance. Chicago reliever Marvin Walton got the win, raising his record to 2-5. Bob Turner was tagged with the loss. After today's action, Chicago sits at 50-70, while San Diego falls to 41-79.
Chicago won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With two outs and Bob Turner on the mound for San Diego, shortstop Marty McCormick hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Traders fans to their feet.
"It was a test of wills," said Larry Link, the Chicago skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
