Packers Come Back Late to Top Industrials, 5-2
|
Cincinnati Packers starter Art Ledington was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Pittsburgh Industrials, 5-2. Ledington, now 13-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. Alan Haney got the save, his 3rd in 3 chances.
Cincinnati took a 4-2 lead on Ron Brown's 10th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Brown hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Bill Hoel visibly frustrated.
Said losing manager Vincent Wicker: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
Cincinnati has rattled off 5 straight wins.
