Quakers Get One-Run Win at Cleveland
|
Starting Pitcher Mel Hartman was lights out, as the Philadelphia Quakers beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 2-1. The 6th-place Quakers now have a record of 51-73.
Joe Voss, who finished 3rd in the NBL in wins above replacement with 7.5 in 1969, had a direct impact on the outcome. Voss contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the second inning to put Philadelphia up, 2-0.
Voss told the Philadelphia Chronicle: "I'm the straw that stirs the drink."
