Stanford Sizzles, Atlanta Fizzles
|
In a remarkable performance, New York Empires starter Larry Stanford beat the Atlanta Generals, 4-0, in an impressive 3-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Empires hurler finished with 4 strikeouts and 1 walk. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Stanford has compiled a 11-10 mark with a 2.98 ERA.
