Blockbusters Squelch Burros Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Los Angeles Blockbusters and the Denver Burros, former first round draft pick Jerry Wilson was the difference-maker. The Los Angeles right-hander spearheaded the 3-0 win. Wilson got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 10 hits and walked 3 over 8.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Fred Wild, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 12th save.
Los Angeles center fielder Norm Parsons contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two down, he hit a slider to left-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 109th hit of the season and put the Blockbusters ahead, 2-0.
Wilson said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
The 4th-place Blockbusters now sit at 60-61.
