Los Angeles Fall Again, 7-4
|
Paul McCarthy did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Los Angeles Pobladores from losing, 7-4, to the San Francisco Seagulls at Mission Field. McCarthy went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times. The winner was Tim Stambaugh, who threw 128 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 4 runs on 6 hits. The Seagulls, now 9-3, have been on fire in the early going.
Tim Stambaugh dealt the Pobladores a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with the bases loaded and San Francisco leading 4-3, Stambaugh, the 11th overall pick in the 1965 draft, hit a 1-1 slider for a 2-run single.
"We've hit a rough patch right now," said Los Angeles skipper Kurt Peterson.
