Los Angeles Downed, 4-2, by Quakers
|
The Philadelphia Quakers and Los Angeles Blockbusters put on quite a show.
The Philadelphia Quakers picked up a win at Blockbuster Stadium, knocking off the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 4-2, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Art Wohlt played a key role in the triumph. Joe Sclafani was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ted Schlener? The three-time All-Star Schlener stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Philadelphia up, 3-2. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Took some scratching and clawing," said Schlener. "But we got it done."
After today's action, Philadelphia sits at 53-74; Los Angeles slips to 61-64.
