Atlanta wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Ron Cwiklinski, falling to the Baltimore Lords, 6-4. Cwiklinski threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Phil Morris got the save, his 2nd in 3 chances. The second-place Lords have won 4 in a row.

Baltimore used the timely hitting of Mike Sheffield to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Lords on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said Baltimore manager Steve Read.
