Empires Bridle Wranglers, 2-1
|
The Dallas Wranglers were defeated, 2-1, by the New York Empires at Queens Field, even though Barry Gilmore pitched well for Dallas. Jack Pratt recorded his 19th save for New York. With this game in the books, New York is 67-59, Dallas 61-63.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Empires had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when second baseman Gary Austin hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Barry Gilmore and made the score 2-0, Empires. Austin was 1 for 4.
"Good ballgame," said Dallas manager William Albrecht. "But we came up on the short end."
