Northmen Turn Back Pobladores, 5-3
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Twin Cities Northmen and Los Angeles Pobladores.
The Twin Cities Northmen topped the Los Angeles Pobladores, 5-3, in American Baseball League action at Twin Cities Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Twin Cities pitcher and San Juan, Puerto Rico, native Ivan Alcala. Alcala got the win, improving to 11-8. He allowed 8 hits and walked 3 over 8.2 innings. Alcala allowed 3 runs.
The Northmen got an important contribution from second baseman Danilo Basilio, who in the bottom of the second punched a 0-1 changeup into left-center for a 2-run double. It was his 9th double of the season and put the Northmen ahead, 5-1.
"We take it day by day here," said Alcala, "and today was a good one for us."
The Pobladores, now 42-85, have lost 4 in a row.
