New York Gets 4-3 Win
|
Sam Houston Field was the site of an exciting ballgame between the New York Empires and Houston Drillers.
The New York Empires locked up a win at Sam Houston Field, knocking off the Houston Drillers, 4-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Andy Humphrey. He played a major role in the triumph. The Empires have a one-game lead in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
New York used the hitting of Jim Caldwell to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Empires on top, 4-0. For the game, Caldwell had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We came out on top and that's all I can ask for," said Humphrey.
