The Denver Burros downed the Milwaukee Dairymen, 3-1, at Gates Crescent Park. Stellar pitching by Keith Williams had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. Williams, the winner, moves to 8-4. He threw 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Earning his 18th save of the year was Joe Hamby.

The Burros got a big at-bat from second baseman Kevin Gunn. For the game, Gunn was 2 for 4 with a double. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 20th double of the season gave Denver a 1-0 lead.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," Williams said in postgame remarks. "Soon enough, the finish line will be in sight."
