The Detroit Wolverines got a sterling performance from pitcher Juan Rodriguez, but the Baltimore Lords still prevailed, 1-0. Rodriguez threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Denny Boyd snagged the win in relief. He goes to 17-10 on the season. Juan Rodriguez suffered the loss. The 4th-place Lords have won 4 in a row.

Baltimore took a 1-0 lead on Bob Carter's 4th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Carter hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Juan Rodriguez visibly frustrated.
