Packers Fall Short, 2-1, at Denver
|
Gates Crescent Park hosted a real pitchers' duel.
The Denver Burros scored a tight 2-1 win versus the Cincinnati Packers at Gates Crescent Park. Denver pitcher Fenton Flannery held his own in the contest. Picking up the save was Bill Wojciehowicz. He's now 22 for 24 in save chances.
Bob Messinger dealt the Packers a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Denver leading 1-0, Messinger, who leads the NBL in home runs with 29, hit a 0-1 changeup for a run-scoring single.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Messinger said.
Denver goes to 70-59, Cincinnati to 59-68.
