St. Louis got a big-time effort from pitcher Bob Trout, but it wasn't enough to keep the New York Knickerbockers from winning the game, 4-3. Trout threw 7.1 innings of 1-hit ball for the losing team. New York reliever Brian Williams picked up the win, raising his record to 9-8. Bernie Tate was tagged with the loss. The win for the Knickerbockers lifted their record to 66-62.

New York used the hitting of Francisco Chavez to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 4-3. For the game, Chavez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I was a little disappointed," said St. Louis manager Ray Fleetwood. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
