Explorers Win Nail-Biter in 10
The St. Louis Explorers picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, dropping the New York Knickerbockers, 4-3, in 10 innings. Ramon Juarez, who finished 2nd in the NBL in strikeouts with 217 in 1966, was the difference-maker. The win was credited to 26-year old left-handed pitcher Alex Alonso in relief. His record improves to 3-3. Bob James took the loss. St. Louis has now won 3 straight, while the Knickerbockers have lost 3 in a row.

The Explorers got a clutch hit from shortstop Tom Guinn. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Explorers.

Guinn described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
