Generals Get One-Run Win at Chicago
|
Starting pitcher Ron Cwiklinski gave the Atlanta Generals a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Chicago Hawks, 3-2, at Hyde Park Stadium. The winner was Cwiklinski. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Bruce Elsner. Earning the save was Ron Winder. He's now cashed in 5 of 7 save opportunities.
Atlanta used the timely hitting of Ed Mika to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Generals on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Cwiklinski said after the game.
Atlanta now sports a record of 54-75.
