Dairymen Sunk by Explorers
|
St. Louis starter Tommy Phillips pitched well against the Milwaukee Dairymen at Milwaukee Municipal Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. The win puts the Explorers at 58-73, while the Dairymen drop to 58-72.
Fernando Najera was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs for St. Louis. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring single off Arnie Keilman. It was his 36th hit of the season.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Phillips said.
