The Toronto Hurons beat the New York Empires, 9-6, at Queens Field. The Hurons got a fine performance from right fielder Danny Bleicher, who went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win puts Toronto at 51-77.

The game was on the line with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning, but Bob LeVangie didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and New York trailing 8-6, LeVangie retired Dave Matuzak to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said LeVangie, with a wink.
