Eagles Come Up Short at Los Angeles, 2-1
|
The Los Angeles Blockbusters got a magnificent performance from pitcher Syed Farooqi, who muffled the Washington offense en route to a tight 2-1 Blockbusters win at Blockbuster Stadium. The winning pitcher was Farooqi, now 12-9. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Dick Berry converted his 10th save in 18 tries.
Tom Adams dealt the Eagles a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with a runner on 2nd and Los Angeles leading 1-0, Adams, who finished 2nd in the ABL in hits with 191 in 1965, hit a 2-2 fastball for a run-scoring single.
"Every loss stings," said Washington manager J P Scott. "This one is no exception."
Los Angeles now has a record of 66-65 with the win.
