Knickerbockers Collect 3-2 Win Over Explorers
|
Knickerbocker Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the St. Louis Explorers and New York Knickerbockers.
The New York Knickerbockers had to overcome a fine performance from St. Louis pitcher Jimmy Trent to grab a 3-2 win at Knickerbocker Stadium. Trent allowed 2 runs over 7.2 innings. New York reliever Tim McGovern picked up the win to move to 4-10. Jack Guthrie suffered the loss.
The Knickerbockers procured the win, in large part because of catcher Randy Durham. In the bottom of the 12th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring single.
"Exhilarating win," said Durham.
Today's win puts New York at 65-66, while St. Louis falls to 76-56.
