Eagles Send Milwaukee Home with 6-1 Loss
|
The Washington Eagles picked up a win at Monument Field, dropping the Milwaukee Dairymen, 6-1. Alex Fonseca, who finished 2nd in the NBL in innings pitched with 258.2 in 1972, was the difference-maker. Fonseca yielded 1 run over 8.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 10-20. Washington goes to 57-75, Milwaukee to 42-89.
Larry Wools, who is tied for 7th in the NBL with a .324 batting average, took Milwaukee hurler John Williams deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 3-run home run put the Eagles on top, 4-1. In all, Wools had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
