In a low-scoring tilt between the Denver Burros and the Los Angeles Blockbusters, Willie Purter, who finished 2nd in the ABL in ERA with 2.46 in 1961, was the difference-maker. The Denver right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win in 10 innings. The 5th-place Burros have won 4 consecutive games.

The Burros got a clutch hit from left fielder Jim Bitting. In the bottom of the tenth, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Burros.

"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Purter after the game.
