New York Gets Riveting Walk-Off Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the New York Knickerbockers and the Philadelphia Quakers, Jack Forbes, who is tied for 6th in the NBL with a 2.84 ERA, proved to be the difference. The New York right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-2 Knickerbockers win. Ollie Hundley earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. His record is now 6-4. With the win, New York raised its record to 73-60.
The game was decided with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With New York trailing 2-1, Dwayne Lamons hit a knuckle curve from Mark Garland to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Knickerbockers had a walk-off win.
"We couldn't have scripted it any better," Lamons said in his postgame press conference.
