Industrials Rough Up Captains, 8-2
|
The Pittsburgh Industrials cut down the San Diego Captains by the score of 8-2, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Don Keough. Keough slugged 3 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring three times for the Industrials. The win was credited to 23-year old left-handed pitcher Gordie Kleiss in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Ray Heath took the loss. The first-place Industrials, at 81-53, lead the National Baseball League Eastern Division by 4½ games.
Keough contributed in the bottom of the fourth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was one at-bat among others that helped Pittsburgh get the win.
"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager Joe Mack.
