Emeralds Prevail, 3-2, Over Twin Cities
|
The Seattle Emeralds defeated the Twin Cities Northmen, 3-2, in American Baseball League action at Twin Cities Stadium. Seattle pitcher Dave Torre had a standout performance. Torre yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 0, and struck out 5. His record improves to 4-11. Picking up the save was Jeff Prestwich. He's now 3 for 5 in save chances.
Seattle used a timely hit from Don Gerwig to get the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Emeralds ahead, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"Dave pitched like a champ," said Seattle manager Mark Velez.
The Emeralds move to 58-76 with the win, while the Northmen drop to 64-72.
