Skip Crawford, who finished 2nd in the NBL in innings pitched with 271.1 in 1968, imposed his will on the Burros from the get-go. Relying mainly on his curveball, the left-hander spearheaded the 5-0 Chicago triumph. Chicago raised its record to 72-64 with the win.

Crawford, who was born in Greensboro, Georgia, threw 105 pitches over 7.1 innings, while allowing no runs.

"I managed to get ahead of guys and keep them at bay," said Crawford.
