Generals Win at Baltimore, 8-4
|
Baltimore got a decent performance from pitcher Jose Rodriguez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Atlanta Generals. Atlanta won the Seton Hill Stadium contest, 8-4. Rodriguez threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Erv Couch earned his 1st save in 1 chances. At 55-78, the Generals claim 6th place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Atlanta needed the clutch hitting of Jerry Downs to notch the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Generals on top, 5-4. For the game, Downs had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Downs told the Atlanta Citizen.
