Knickerbockers Cut Down Bulls, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the New York Knickerbockers and the Kansas City Bulls, Ray Schifsky was the X factor. The New York right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. Schifsky, now 7-16, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. With the win over Kansas City, the Knickerbockers improved to 73-62.
Had Dave DeHaan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, DeHaan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Knickerbockers.
"I had everything working," said Schifsky.
