Montreal turned a good performance from starting pitcher Lawrence Connor into a 6-1 triumph over the Detroit Wolverines at LaSalle Stadium. The Habitants, at 76-60, sit in first place in the American Baseball League Eastern Division.
Jerry Sullivan had a big solo home run for the Habitants in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he got a fastball from Scott Litwak and swatted a home run to right. It was his 20th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Habitants ahead, 2-0.
In postgame comments, Connor told the Montreal Observer: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"
