Burros Need Extra Innings to Top Dairymen, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Denver Burros and the Milwaukee Dairymen, Bob Langham, who led the NBL in saves with 30 in 1970, was the difference-maker. The Denver right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win in 11 innings. The winner was Paul Massey in relief. His record improves to 4-5. Chris Davalos took the loss. Denver is now 62-74, Milwaukee 46-90.
Denver got a knockout punch from Tom Rosales. The pinch hitter hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the 11th inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Langham said in reaction to the win.
