The Washington Eagles beat the Cleveland Bobcats, 8-0. Washington pitcher and San Luis, Cuba, native Miguel Jimenez led the way. Washington goes to 58-80, Cleveland to 65-72.

Washington used a well-timed hit by Alan Cassill to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Eagles ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

Said losing manager Daniel Mays: "We need to play with more of an edge."
