Quakers Pin 6-2 Loss on San Diego
|
The Philadelphia Quakers and San Diego Captains completed their game despite the rain.
The Philadelphia Quakers stymied the San Diego Captains, 6-2, at Quakers Stadium. Joe Voss had a good day at the plate. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for Philadelphia. Glenn Kittle was the winner. He's now 3-2. The loser was Ed Payne.
Philadelphia second baseman Ron Paige helped the Quakers go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Paige hit a run-scoring single off San Diego pitcher Dave Fields.
Said losing manager Joe Mack: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
The Quakers improved their record to 58-81 by beating San Diego.
