Dairymen Earn Clutch Win, 2-1
|
The Milwaukee Dairymen defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 2-1, at Lakefront Stadium. Cliff Bragg, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL in doubles with 43, was a standout performer for Milwaukee. His 4 hits included 2 singles and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 1 he knocked in. Antonio Cuadra, credited with the win in relief, is now 4-4. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. Bernie Kirk recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 13 for 25.
The game was all tied up in the top of the eighth, until Bragg delivered big-time for Milwaukee, stroking a dramatic run-scoring single off Steve Cheatham. The game-changing hit put the Dairymen on top, 2-1.
"Can't say enough about our pitching," said Bragg.
The defeat makes Cleveland 71-67.
