Explorers 5-3 Victors Over New York
|
The St. Louis Explorers picked up a win at Corps of Discovery Stadium, taking down the New York Knickerbockers, 5-3. Starting pitcher Dick Lott was a big reason why. The winning pitcher was Lott, now 12-10. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Bernie Tate was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 35 of 39 save opportunities.
Charlie Bartels hit a 2-run home run off Jack Forbes in the bottom of the first, which put the Explorers ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Bartels had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.
Lott called the win "a team effort."
New York has now lost 4 in a row.
