New York Slaps 7-2 Loss on Houston
|
Eddie Ellison was a vital contributor to the 7-2 New York victory over Houston. The Empires catcher was 2-4 with a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. The win was credited to former first round draft pick Terry Ross in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Brown took the loss. By defeating Houston, the second-place Empires improved to 69-68.
In the bottom of the second inning of a 0-0 tie, New York right fielder David Kerr reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 2 runs. It broke the deadlock and put New York on top, 2-0.
"It was a solid team effort," Ellison said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
