Frampton, Empires Finish Off Drillers, 6-1
|
The New York Empires earned a win at Sam Houston Field, knocking off the Houston Drillers, 6-1. On the bump for New York was right-hander Nate Frampton. He had a starring role in the triumph. The defeat makes Houston 78-62.
Frampton, who dominated for New York, earned the victory to move to 14-13. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 9 innings, while striking out 3. Houston batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"Nate throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said New York manager Dan Whiting.
