Wranglers Reel Off Another Win
|
Wranglers left fielder Pat Simmons left his mark on his team's 7-4 win over the Boston Terriers. Simmons, who is tied for 10th in the ABL in bases on balls with 83, went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Dallas in the contest. Charlie Sokol got the win, improving to 15-6. He held the Terriers to 4 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 5. Picking up the save was Frank Dunn, his 29th.
With Dallas leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Simmons hit a 2-run single off Boston hurler Larry Haines. It was the 138th hit of the season for Simmons and put his team ahead, 3-0.
"We're our own worst enemy right now," said Boston skipper David Molina.
The second-place Wranglers have won 6 in a row.
