Quakers Suffer 4-1 Road Loss
|
The Philadelphia Quakers and St. Louis Explorers left the fans buzzing.
The St. Louis Explorers went home winners at Corps of Discovery Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Ramon Juarez. Juarez stifled the Philadelphia Quakers, enabling St. Louis to grab the 4-1 win. Alex Alonso notched his 25th save in 32 chances.
Tom Guinn had a big 2-run double for the Explorers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With St. Louis leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Juan Mendoza, who is tied for 8th in the NBL in complete games with 6, and swatted a double to right. It was his 18th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Explorers ahead, 4-1.
In postgame remarks, Guinn hailed his team's "mettle."
The win elevated the Explorers to 80-61.
