Extra-Inning Win by Blockbusters Over Burros
The Los Angeles Blockbusters beat the Denver Burros in a game featuring much hitting but not much pitching. The final score was 14-10, Blockbusters. One of the hitting stars was left fielder Ernie Ronnebaum. Ronnebaum, who finished 2nd in the NBL in extra base hits with 75 in 1971, belted 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 5. The win went to Tom Benson in relief, making him now 7-7. Tom Reid took the loss for Denver. Los Angeles has now won 3 straight, while the Burros have lost 5 in a row.

The game was all tied up in the top of the 11th, until Ronnebaum delivered big-time for Los Angeles, stroking a dramatic 2-run double off Tom Reid. The game-changing hit put the Blockbusters on top, 8-6.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Ronnebaum told the Los Angeles Observer.
